USS Arizona pics: improved posting
Posted by arnie60 on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 9:59 AM

I posted these in an earlier thread, but the size and resolution left much to be desired. I ended up going to Kinkos and scanning them with much better results. I ended up "grouping" several pics in one shot as Kinkos charges by the minute, but you can now "zoom" in for a close look at the details. If you download them, you should be able to crop them into individual shots.

Again, I hope that some of you find these useful.

Taken by my grandfather in the 1920's while he was serving on her. Some of the pics were taken in Panama and California and Hawaii. I am not sure about the dry dock location. His tour of duty was mostly in the Pacific but I do know that a couple of pics were taken somewhere on the east coast.

What can I offer to get you to scan each at full size? PM me if you wish?

Second this. I'd be willing to pay the cost for "per minute" individual scans at 600DPI.

Did not expect this kind of response. I wasn't going to put in the time etc. that it takes to scan them in individually at 600 dpi (each one takes about ten minutes) but considering the interest shown here (didn't expect that) I will try to get them up and posted by the end of the week. Then you can all download them as you like and do w/ as you see fit. I am sure my grand dad is smiling in the beyond to know that they are being appreciated.

if someone can direct me on how to put them up on Navsource, I will put them there as well.

Navsource's main site is at www.navsource.org, but I am having trouble getting there right now.  I use Firefox, and when I try to navigate to the site, I'm getting Yahoo search errors instead.  You might be able to navigate to the site, though, and see the links to contact them.
