Questions on Type VII-C U-Boat
Posted by KnightTemplar5150 on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 3:17 PM
With a roughly a week of free time before the start of spring semester classes, I have begun a little research so that I can begin planning my build of the Revell 1/72 Type VII-C U-Boat. I am having a bit of difficulty in finding material concerning the large vents found under the saddle tanks. On the kit, each half of the hull has two sections of these vents (fore and aft on the underside of the saddle tank) consisting of four square frames. To my eye, something does not seem quite right here, but it's more of a "gut feeling" than anything objective. I've poured over the books I have on-hand and searched the web, but I cannot seem to find anything definitive or clear enough to be of any use to me. Does anyone have any information on these vents? Or has anyone got advise on how to detail them? Heck - for that matter, do I even need to bother with them at all?

I can't give any info on them myself, but I do suggest you have a look at the uboat.net website. Lots of good knowledge and info there...

Those are inlet doors for the tank and should be left as is. http://models.rokket.biz/index.php?topic=1229.0

Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
