Bert Kinzey in his Detail & Scale book on the USS Enterprise called the Aurora model the second best kit in that scale.  A distant second to the Otaki kit in a two horse race.   He also said that , in his opinion, the Otaki offering was perhaps better that the Tamiya 1:350 offering.

Build it,  enjoy it,  don't obsess about it

The Monogram Enterprise is a reissue of the 1960s Aurora kit, whose molds Monogram acquired when Aurora went belly up, The kit was impressive for its size in the day, but is not generally too well regarded as a scale model these days. I believe it was last reissued around 2007 by Revell, now owners of Monogram and Aurora by default.

If you search the webs, you'll find a fair number of builds of this kit, and comments on its inadequacies.

Has anyone built the 1:400 scale Monogram model of the Enterprise? I looked for a review here but haven't found one yet. Any advice out there before I get started?

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
