The Admiral Graf Spee, Deutschland, Lutzow (2 different kits reflecting differences) and Admiral Scheer were also excellent kits. I wish that they had carried over the high quality into their aircraft carrier range.

Yes, I remember building an Italeri 1/720 HMS Hood way back when I used to do small scale ships. It was a very nice kit for the time, every bit as good, if not better than what was coming from Japan. It had a full hull or waterline option as I recall.

Revell and Italeri have both created ships in 1/720th scale since the mid-1960's.  Since then, Revell has released several of the Italeri USN carriers in 1/720 as well.  There are some ships in the Revell catalog not manufactured by Italeri, such as the Admiral Hipper class cruisers, and some modeled by Italeri and not by Revell, such as the pocket battleships.  The 1/720 scale predates the 1/700 offerings by the Japanese consortium by about 10 years, if memory serves.
