I was surprised to find that the wreck of the Hood was located, and some research has been done to better understand what happened to her. I guess sometimes we think of the entire ocean as deep and forbidding, while technology makes it possible to do more at even greater depths.
On the bench: 1/350 Trumpeter HMS Dreadnought; 1/350 Academy USS Reuben James FFG-57
I believe that the battleship you are referring to is the Kirishima. I saw those photos as well and was equally disappointed.
Bill
It's amazing that what remains of her is upright. I remember how disappointed I was when Ballard found one of the older Japanese BBs, (I can't remember which), and it was upside down in the mud, hiding that towering pagoda mast.
According to what I have seen so far she is upright and fairly intact, but that is unconfirmed.
I hope that her fantail is intact and upright. I read that, during her 1943 refit, she was fitted with depth charge racks. I would like to see a photo of them to see how and where they were positioned. It would make for an interesting addition to a model.
Well, take a flashlight and your .45!
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
I didn't know there was any such thing as the Ready Room.
Right, thanks Jim.
Theres a thread abt it over in the "Ready Room" if you want to take a peek. It seems to be the real deal. Exciting, huh?
