Upcoming Merit International 1/350 USS Alaska CB-1
Posted by docidle on Monday, March 16, 2015 12:04 AM

While I was at Free-Time Hobbies pre-order site, I saw that Merit plans on putting out the USS Alaska CB-1 in 1/350 scale. Be still my beating heart....... Again, no issue date and nothing on the Merit website, but man-o-man two great ship models.

I am really looking forward to that one. I know the Alaskas were the US Navy's white elephants that they never wanted, but they were definitely interesting looking vessels, and I have always wanted to get one in 1/350. I put it just behind the 1/200 Hood that is coming out. That is going to be a beauty!

ships,

The Alaska class is one of the ships I never thought I see in injection plastic, so as I said, I am a happy camper. Now if someone would make a 1/350 Baltimore class Heavy Cruiser!

I do not have the room to build any of the 1/200 beasts that have been coming out, although they look really nice at first glance.

I currently don't have room to build any of the 1/200 beasts, but that should change by the end of the year. In the meantime, my 1/200 Missouri is sitting in a storage shed. Because of current space limitations, I can't really work on anything bigger than 1/350 ships, and even then, they can't be as big as an Iowa or Hood. Alaska will have to wait until next year. In the meantime, I can enjoy building some of the great smaller models.

I just recently saw that Navy, and if you include the USS Ranger CV-4 in there too, then I will try and not have a heart attack!

Now if someone will make a USS Langley CV-1, the USS Maine and a WWII Light Anti-Aircraft Crusier in 1/350......
