Arrgh : Mateys , me ship has come in !
Arriving today at 3;30 p.m. Texas time , the S.S. Oriana came alongside at Minshipco's company pier .Unlike when I first saw her though , she is white and Not the beautiful Buff she was originally molded in . Yes , fellows , My non- ridiculously priced model arrived and in perfect shape !
The model is as I remember . Beautifully molded and very interesting to look at . Now , you must remember ,This is the Revell 50th anniversary release . Not a piece has fallen off the sprues ! All said though In white she does kinda look whalish ! The knuckle on the hull is still prominent and guess what ? At 20 and 1/16 inches she still has that well deserved $ 2.98 price printed on the box ! Oh my , the decals are still perfect .The only odd thing is the brochure for Revell Merchandise ! It's in German !
Just so no one will think it's all original , I include this - 1961/2006 - Revell Gmbh &co . K G ( Revell of Germany ) Fabricated in Poland . Gees ! she sure had a long way to go to find her way home to me !. Even at that , it's nice to see her on my bench ! Also at the odd scale of 1/495 ! The nice part is she still excites the liner builder in me , even after all these years .Shoot , she's only three yrs. younger than my car ! T.B.
