Colourcoats available
Posted by GMorrison on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 5:54 PM

John Snyder posted this over on Shipmodel Forum just now.

"We are pleased to announce that Colourcoats has been restocked in Germany at NNT Modell + Buch.
Ralf at NNT Modell + Buch is carrying a broad selection of colours including Royal Navy, Regia Marina, Kreigsmarine, US Navy, Imperial Japanese Navy, Great War Naval & Modern Naval from the Colourcoats Sea range. For Aircraft modellers you will find RAF/FAA, US Air Force/US Navy, Luftwaffe & Imperial Japanese Army/Navy."

Its also now available from the guys who bought the range at Sovereign Hobbies. I think these are based in Scotland.

And the old WEM site is back up and running. The stuff now sells from the USA, California.

Its great to see them back, even if it has moved across the pond. Hopefully these new guys can keep it going.

Unfortunately, for those of us in the States, Sovereign does not ship overseas and the only dealer at this time is NNT in Germany. The shipping cost with the current rate of exchange is $44.86 and that was for just one tin.

I think I'll wait until they get a dealer here in the U.S.

Steve, the reason Sovereign won't ship over seas is down to the Royal mail who won't take enamel paints by air. Its a bit of a pain even in the UK because RM won't ship enamels full stop, they have to be sent by parcel Force on a land route. So even for someone in the UK its a flat rate of 310, which is a bit much if you just want a couple of tins. I am sure they will be looking for a US distributor, it would not surprise me if they did not team up with the guys who have taken over the WEM site.

Bish,

Thanks for letting me know. I remember that WEM stopped shipping overseas awhile back so it does not surprise me that Sovereign does not. I was a little taken back by the DHL shipping cost so if I was going to order from them I would order a boatload of tins.

I am hoping that someone will take over retailing here in the colonies, maybe Warship or Freetime Models will.

I believe the rules that RM are following are international ones concerning the carriage of dangerous goods by air. I just looked at Sprue Brothers, and they also will not ship by air or outside the USA. I am guessing that if you ordered from Germany using DHL, it would be by surface post, so would take ages.

I imagine the US is a big market for colour coats, so I would think they will be trying to get a US supplier very soon. It only took a week from Sovereign being up and running to them being stocked in Germany. Maybe you guys could do a little arm twisting to get stores over there to stock it.

I have found ColourCoats paint in the US! Warship Hobbies is carrying it in their eBay online store.

I have purchased from them before and they have great customer service. It is going for $5.75 USD a tin plus shipping.

You guys now have another source for colourcoats paint. This wa splaced onto the Soverign Hobbies site a couple of days ago. The company, H&B Hobbies, appears to be new and is on line only. They only have aircrfat colurs listed, i can only guess that other lines will be added soon.
