Jason ;

    Although there were ships out there with them .Most in our Des -Div , Did not use them  .Why ? well they were to hard to put on and remove and they actually leaked like sieves and held water against the barrel closure unit in rough weather . Our Div - Com said no B.Bs on his watch !

Alliance Model Works sell 5" Turret with blast bags for the Fletcher.  There are videos on you-tube that demonstrate using putty to make blast bags.

1/350 Destroyer Blast Bags?

Hi Everybody,

   After years and years of building cars and planes, I've decided to dip my toe into ship modelling.  For a first kit, I've settled on the Tamiya USS Fletcher in 1/350.

  I am contemplating adding photoetch raiings and other details, I have in the past on the planes and cars.  I know a few companies offer sets.  Not sure which one I will go with yet, though.

  I was also looking at the guns, and they do not come with blast bags.  Does any company offer these?  Or, what is the best way to scratch build them?

  Any and all suggestions are more than welcome, and thanks in advance!

Jason
