Hello fellow ship fans. I just received my USS Texas from Squadron yesterday, WOOHOO! I built the New York ( OOB ) several months ago and there are noticeable differences, I'll include a few. The hull is essentially the same. The location of light AA guns and splinter shields on the main deck are different. A and B turrets each have 6 X 20MM's. There are also considerable differences in the superstructure. The CX series radar is on the stump tripod mast and not her foretop as on New York. The kit portrays her in late WW2. Enjoy your builds everyone Cool !

The f/b Save The Battleship Texas pages has a thread on the kit, with a great deal of expressed interest. Which would include suggesting that the ship's gift shop stock the kit (so the Houstites can buy them all up). Have heard that Squadron, just over yonder in Carrolton, is already out.

And I thought I was not doing something right on their web sight. I did however, go ahead and order the kit from Free-Time while i was there. I couldn't help myself. I heard the kit calling to me. Asking me to let it come live with me. How could I refuse? lmao

Seems Free-Time has removed my pre-order from my account. The sent me an email saying that the ship is now in stock, but the webpage shows the it out of stock. Ordered it out of Japan and shipped by banana boat but now the model is $15 cheaper. I waited this long I can wait a little longer.

mainmast is the main difference as texas has an extra level there so can be scratch built on to your 2nd new york.

The 1941 time-period. Right before Pearl Harbor. I bought the USS New York with an intention of turning her into the Texas. I was not sure when the USS Texas would be released. If the two kits are that different....looks like I will be buying another kit. :)

What are the differences between the USS New York and the Texas?

Then you should build her. I'm sure that the kit will be a straightforward assembly. It will have a LOT of parts. And it's something you have an interest in. I say go for it.

I love ol' BB35 and have visited her a number of times.  I've never built a ship model but ths one is tempting me.   It's good news!

Squadron is now advertising the Trumpeter 1/350 Texas as in stock.
