Spraypaint touchup?
Posted by Spitfire4sergi on Thursday, August 6, 2015 10:16 AM

Hey everyone!

I just began work on my 1:150 Heller Amerigo Vespucci, and I'll cut straight to the chase.. I had some bleeding while spraypainting my stripes.  As much as I'd like to just start over, I was wondering if there's any way of touching the spots up without any obvious blemishes?  I was thinking maybe a light coat of re-applied spraypaint (re-tape).  What do you guys think?  Thanks in advance!  I'll try uploading pics shortly.

I often have to retouch small spots.  I try to sand the immediate area around the spot, either with a small piece of #600 or a pencil eraser.

I can't get the link to work, but I assume the white bled? If you can scrape it all off, try spotting black back on with a brush. It happens a lot on plastic sailing ship models because they typically have a lot of cast on texture. You'll be able to see the spots, but I doubt anyone else will.

Here's a trick. After you get tape set, spray the edges of it with the original base color. That makes the bleed the same as whats under the tape. Then go with white. Or vise versa.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
