There were a series of prosecutions from 2004 to 2007 that sent two of the older Christians to jail and a third to house arrest. Children now are not allowed to live there past the age of 6 or return until they are adults It may well become inhabited again.

Small bit of trivia. The young midshipman who first sighted the Island and namesake, his father fought and was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill.

There is a PBS travel series called Globetrekker.  They cover a lot of off-the-beaten-path places.  They did one program on Southwest Pacific Islands, including Pitcairn Island.  The host talked to one of the Christian progeny.  I thought there were several.

There was an interesting article in the latest Coastal Living written by a contributor who went out to the island on the quarterly supply ship from New Zealand.

The place has a very complicated and sad modern history, and there is still one young person there named Christian.
