GMorrison Wiki gives the length at 201 feet. I have no idea what that means. EDIT: That seems to be the main gun deck. Which puts the hull short of 36". If, which I never will, I were to attempt this, I would definitely hire someone to build it for me.

The thing that bothers me, though, is the different form factor of those ships compared to modern warships. The fineness ratio of modern warships is high. I can find a number of shelves to display modern warships and especially lakers. But the extremely low ratio of old ships, whose width is even greater than hull, due to long main yard, means those shelves will not support an old sail ship. If I ever do complete my Soleil Royale, I sure don't know where I'll put it. The thing is over 14 inches wide! And that is only a 1:96 scale.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Wow, I find it hard to find display space even for a 1:96 or 1:100 model of a major ship. Any idea of how big it will be?
Cerberus,
Thanks for posting that information. I missed it somehow over at MSW. Although I am not a wooden ship builder, the ST has always been on my wish list as a big scale plastic kit.

Dusek are developing a 1/72 POB kit of "Santisima Trinidad", the Spanish flagship at Trafalgar. I think the kit looks very promising, it even has laser-cut spiled planking!
