I too will be looking forward to your WIP Jay. We do not see enough Brit carriers around here.

 

Not sure you you use enamels or acrylic, but I would suggest ColourCoats enamels. They are great matches to WWII colors.

Looking forward to your Build Jay. For my Wood Bases, I use a Wooden Drawer FRont with some Lamp Pedastals.....Cheers mark

WIP 1/400 HMS Illustrious

Greetings all!

 

I suppose it's time to create this thread for the Heller 1/400 HMS Illustrious that I am doing for the Aircraft Carrier GB. I purchased the WEM PE set as well as the island replacement pieces. I have two books for reference and a scale drawing I found online. This is my first carrier build so I will probably be learning as I go. 

 

Im thinking of doing a wood base and am currently trying to source paints for the project.

 

Here are some pictures of just opening her up and my paint reference.

Currentely Building: 1/35 Ford Quad FAT + QF25,

In queue: 1/35 Hobby Boss VK1602, 1/400 HMS Illustrious, 1/700 HMS Broadsword
