Hi ;

 If you don't mind the scale , Cornerstone , by Walthers has an H.O tug that can be converted to one . It's a waterline tug so it actually be easier I believe .    T.B.

It is not WW2, but Revell (G) makes a nice modern ocean-going tug.

The Scale Shipyard has a 1:96th scale fiberglass hull and superstructure for that class - 25.5" long and 4.75" beam.  You'll have to scratchbuild the decks, masts, davits, stack, etc.  The Scale Shipyard also has some fittings available: watertight doors; hatches; fire hoses; etc.

Iron Shipwright makes a 1:350 scale resin & brass ATF.  You are not going to find much in plastic.

I used this kit to make a model of the Abnaki as she appeared when she went out to meet the USS Guadalcanal and revieve her of the tow of the captured U-505.    Unfortunately no pics

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but it took about 5 seconds to Google. I hope it's worth a look.

WWII ocean-going Tug models?
Posted by RudyOnWheels on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 10:57 PM

Hello all, I am looking to see if anyone knows of any models of the giant 205 foot long ocean-going tugs used in WWII, I believe the were called abanzi-class or something of that nature? A friend's father served on the USS "Hidatsa" in the pacific, I'd really love to build one for my friend. He's really been struggling with his father's recent passing.

Thank you in advance!
