The Heller La Belle Poule (Pretty Farmyard Bird) was first released in 1978. It's on1/200 scale, correct?

The kit has a reputation of being a difficult build, no doubt mostly because the instructions will be junk.

But it's a pretty straightforward rig of a 19th Century fully rigged ship, so it shouldn't be impossible.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Hi " G "

I have it on good authority that "Poule" is French for the good old Chicken !  T.B.

See, it's not just English. In cooking, the French for chicken is "poulette". In the farmyard, elle c'est pulle; homme c'est coq. So, "poulle" really is more like "hen" much as "coq" is best matched to rooster. Spanish does not seem to go this, it's pollo y gallo. (That 'pico de gallo' (PPEK oh duh GUY oh) you put on your fajitas is "beak of the rooster" from the picant peppers mixed with the red tomatoes.)
