Alright ship fans! There is the new game out called Naval Action. It is an online MMO (massive multiplayer online) game that is available on the Steam network and it is all focused on the Age of Sail period!
NAVAL ACTION IS AN EXCITING, REALISTIC, AND BEAUTIFULLY DETAILED NAVAL COMBAT GAME IMMERSING PLAYERS INTO THE EXPERIENCE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERIOD OF NAVAL HISTORY - WHEN SAILING SHIPS RULED THE SEAS.
The map takes place over the entire Caribbean, you can sail on the pan-handle of florida and all the way across the Gulf to Mexico and then down to the Northern coast of South America...so the entire Caribbean! The great apart about this is that the loading of the guns takes time and you have to pay attention to the wind! Certain angles will cause the ship to not move (headwind) and then you have to figure out the best point of sail when in combat to either catch the enemy or the pirates! You can be any nation during the games time period which is 1600-1830 (this way allows you to get any country that was there during those years). You can chose from Britain, France, Spain, United States, Denmark, Holland, Sweden, and then you can be pirates!
If anyone is interested in this game I'll provide the link at the end of the post. It is in Alpha mode so it is still underdevelopment but theyre constantly updating it for you. There's an economic engine in the game where you can actually buy, sell, trade, and control the flows of ports that are under your command. You also can buy ships when you have enough crew but if you want a challenge then you can build them!
I'm playing the game right now and absolutely love it! You start off in a small 12 gun cutter but will progress through the line pretty fast!

If anyone is interested in playing and starting a fleet, I would be more than happy to join you! My game name is Captain Blonde Beard (yes, like from the movie The Martian haha) butI am sailing under the British flag.
