What to do with a Damaged Cutty Sark.......
Posted by Big Jake on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 7:34 AM

This follows some builds of the Cut-Away style kits of the HMS Victory and USS Constuitution Mainmast kits on the market as well as the HMS Victory Bow Section.  Many know that Cutty may be my favorite ship to built, so with a badly damaged CS from Katrina, I figured I'd slap this together.

From the title lone, my first thought was to chop about 4" out of the center of the hull, and rebuild her as a packet clipper. My other thought would be to find another kit and salvage the center 3" or so of the hull, and stretch the new kit and build her as a generic barque or barkentine. If only dismasted, I'd be tempted to engage in some surgery to render a transitional steamer , with masts and a screw; or sidewheels.. CS would be good for this as the gaffs are there already
