I agree, GGM is my preferred PE.

Hi;

I have to agree with " G " . G.M.M. is the best available in my opinion . For ships anyway .  T.B.

Ed,

I bought the 1942 version of the San Francisco today online through Hobbylinc. I also sent a check - as is my usual practice - to GMM with their order form. It's somewhat less convenient to print out an envelope and their form and write a check but, what the heck, all I have is time now that I'm in my 6th year of retirement Smile. I've never had any problems with GMM - just wanted to know if anyone had the opinion that WEM was a better set for that ship kit and, if so, why.

WEM brass is now owned by Toms model works.    They are still the items designed by Peter hall.  They are looking to add new items.   For example last week at the IPMS Nats I asked Richard Harden of Toms to look into 1:144 items for the new Revell corvette. He said that would be high on Peters todo list

If you are buying GMM direct be aware that there are minimum purchase and PayPal limits   he diesnt take plastic

Thanks guys.

I only asked because I noticed that the WEM website seems to be up and running as Bish has noted.

The GMM PE that I've used in the past has, indeed, been fine afaic. It's also less expensive than the PE from WEM for the San Francisco. Always good to check with you guys first!

Thanks.

I bought the GMM set for my SF, so don't know about the WEM stuff. I was happy with the GMM set- looks great on my SF.

I also prefer GMM.  They are both great, but I find sometimes that WEM provides tiny parts that aren't quite usable.  I have had excellent results with the GMM parts.

Afraid i can't comment on the two types of PE, but GM, did you know the WEM site is back up and running. I just checked the site and they have GATO PE.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

First of all, it's hard to find WEM. I just bought a set on eBay for the Gato.

I always consider GMM pretty hard to beat.

I used it for my CA-38 at Guadalcanal and was delighted with it.

Usually GMM is the most expensive choice, but also usually has the most stuff.

BTW that model is probably my favorite 1/350 WW2 ship ever, hands down.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I'm thinking about buying the Trumpeter 1/350 USS San Francisco. Which PE set, in your opinions, do you think would be best?
