This is one of my gripes about the kit industry. Painting detail/info on several brands is a laugh. The instructions are full of omissions and inaccuracies. This is true not just on ships but all of the genres. I firmly believe some of these kit mfgs believe 95% of modelers never paint their models. And I guess they figure the remaining 5% are advanced enough to find their own reference info.
Legion are the aircraft kits with big radial engines where the instructions say paint engine all silver or all black. Indeed, with ships I see deck hardware as the worst lack of info. Certainly not all mfgs are alike, but enough that it is a problem.
