Fujimi Kitty Hawk, CV63 in '98 configuration...

There is a 1/700 Kitty Hawk as she looked at about that time.  The kit is a waterline kit, though I forgot which of the Japanese companies manufactured the kit (It wasn't Tamiya).  It should be an easy conversion to make it the exact year you desire.  There is also a nice photo etch set for this kit.  The kit is almost always on eBay.

The three cable openings on the bow are shaped wrong; they should be more oval.  The double elevator openings on the hull are single.  General layout seems okay, but, as with all model kits, there could be improved detail.

On the plus side, Fujimi did include the cable openings.  That is a detail often ignored by manufacturers.
