Hello everyone,
I've recently taken on the task of building this ship for my friend Tim, who goes here by the name Ptconsulting. Shortly I will be starting a thread for a Merit g-5 torpedo boat as well.
This is my first post and build thread on this forum so bear with me until I get dialed in.
I got the kit today and started with inspecting the plans and parts.
Next I scrubbed all the parts with dishwashing soap and rinsed clean. The parts were then stacked in paper towels and left to dry.
The plans call for the rudder and prop shaft to be fit in without gluing to allow them to move. There's a faint step where those parts go so I've opted to glue them permanently after.
The two sides didn't line up too well due to warping so I tacked the seam together as accurately as I could with cya and brushed in liquid cement from the back.
After gluing the seam was scraped with burred razor blade until I felt I couldn't go any further. I will fill the remaining low spot and prime and sand until it's no longer noticeable.
Finally I assembled the cradle and glued in the central bulkhead. This tans will be used for assembly though provisions will be made for mounting onto brass finials and that will go on a display board.
Thats all for now
Kyle
