One book that will help you is Seventy Four Gun Ship by Jean Boudriot.

According to some sources, the figureheads of all ships of the French Temeraire class of 74's had standardized figureheads after 1795.  I wish that there was a greater availability of reputable sources because this class numbered 120 ships in three different versions based on length.  There had to be differences between ships of this class.  It would be great to have documents that delve into these.

One potential problem looks like it'll be the figureheads which are different and possibly the carvings on the stern.

Great question and I was thinking the same thing a while back as I have the Superb but would prefer if it was a Trafalgar ship.

I'd like to do maybe a battle damaged version.

If I wanted to build a reasonable facsimile of the Redoutable of Trafalgar fame in plastic, would the Heller Le Glorieux/ Superb make a good starting point?

From what I've been able to discover, the Redoutable and the Superbe were both Temeraire class 74's. I've also read that the Heller kits are 85 to 90% identical. I have a Le Glorieux in the stash already and really don't want to lay out another $90.
