Value
Posted by dgb on Friday, February 17, 2017 12:08 PM

What is the value of an unassembled Renwal 1:200 Andy Jackson SSBN-619 complete (a few loose parts) in moderate worn box is worth. To your best guesses. Of course this is the interior displayed, hinged hull. About 25 inches. This is not a Revell re-release. This is orginal Renwal 1960's. You can tell by the instructions & box art, I think. Re-release has revell instructions.

 Thanks dgb

I found a few of the newer Revell kits available in the low $50's. I saw the new release several years ago in our Hobby Town (before it closed) and grabbed one because I still have fond memories of building it as a kid. As I recall one missle tube has a spring in it so you can launch a tiny replica. I've yet to build it and had forgotten it was lingering at the bottom of my stash so maybe I'll pull it out and take a look.

I can give three value ranges....

1.  If buying, what you are willing to lay on the table.

2.  If selling, what the market will bear

3.  If selling, whatever you can get for it.

Not much help, and may sound a little flippant, but it all comes down to that.  Ask 10 people and you will get 15 different figures.

You Know , Goldhammer ;

 On this point you are so right . I have found stuff at incredibly low prices and stuff so costly they wanted to mortgage my wife  and firstborn ! It all depends Where and when .The big shows with lots of vendors in the bigger cities . High Money . Smaller Shows , smaller cities , Better chance for a real bargain on the last show day .No one wants to arrive home with the same or more than they came with .It's a lot of work as well .

   I have watched the set -ups and break-downs at our train shows and believe me , a lot of folks got under 20.00 on running Locos , just so they didn't have to drag them around again . Last time I vended at an I.P.M.S. show I had forty cases of model cars ,from the fifties up !  You do realize that is a whole U-Haul little attic van ( I bought it used to convert to an R.V.) and when I left ,because it seemed I hit the customers with a fairer than I thought Price range  I had a case and a half left ! But those were ones I had traded for .

 In other words I sold it all . Not one kit went for over $ 20.00 bucks ! And boy did I get good stuff in trade !  T.B.                P.S. When I pass , ALL goes to the V.A. . I ain't gonna do that again !

If you are Selling:  You may want to try Ebay for some estimates. Search on Renwal 1/200 model kit. Currently there are 2 listings going for approx $100.00 +shipping.  You can also choose "sold listings" at the left side of screen, toward the bottom. This will show recent sales of ALL Renwal (Sub) kits .  Currently one "Andy Jackson" sold for $181.15 from Portugal w/free shipping!

If you are Looking to Buy...
 I think it was pointed out that Revell Germany re-released this kit.  It was also the same kit as Renwal's Ethan Allen so you could search on the 1/200 Renwal Ethan Allen or Revell 1/200 Andrew Jackson.    ( I read a review in Ship Modeler's Review List where David Wells  indicated it was also released as a " Thomas Jefferson " and per Tom Dougherty  the "Thomas Jefferson" had one side in clear plastic.).  In the case of the Ethan Allen the  prices are all over the place, recently ~$18.00 thru upwards of $110.00 + shipping.   I picked up the Ethan Allen for $14.50 but that was in 2014 when I first started my "Stash". ....  I guess I am one of the 10 folks who will give you 15 different answers... but I Hope it helped.
