Hi PFJN;

  No it's no more difficult than cutting wood to shape based on plans .The plastic thicknesses are easy to handle and you can use parts box or found items to detail the ship as well.

 Plus you can use any P.E. That will work !  T.B.

Hi TB,

I have to admit everytime I think about trying to build the paper model pre-dreadnaught that I bought the thought keeps crossing my mind of how I could maybe 3D print some part, or use sheet styrene or styrene shape for some other part.  I guess going all out to just use the paper model data for a template for a scratch built plastic model wouldn't really be that big a leap Smile

Looks interesting. I'll be following this. Never did a paper model, but am doing an "egg" aircraft carrier out of a tin easter egg and card stock and a lot of putty. For the club monthly contest for July.

Had an idea ;

 What about scratch building an inshore transfer tanker ? I used a paper model for the patterns and enlarged then to 1/87 . This beast will be a foot and an eighth long .Sheet plastic and frames of different sizes of sheet . .010 , .020 and for the frames and waterline piece .040 . Now to detailing and shaping the bow and stern .

 Anyone can do it .

 How many of you have built a Card ( Paper ) model of a plane or ship ? This will put you ahead of the pack .Now for those who are adventurous you could do it in or near the size you prefer .How ? Start by using the waterline plate that came with say , that 1/350 model of the Enterprise or the Missouri .

 Give it a try .  T.B.
