Not sure about the hull but I can tell you that the superstructure was built intentionally low to go under bridges on the canal. Some even had telescoping wheelhouses for that purpose.

Commercial traffic is coming back on both the Erie and Champlain canals only they are using modern style tugs.

Every year the town of Waterford, NY hosts the Tugboat Roundup.  It's always the weekend after Labor Day.  Maybe somebody in Waterford might be able to help with a plans search.  The New York State Canal Corporation owns several tugs and may have the plans for them.

I've long wanted to build a period canal boat, but been stumped finding good scale drawings. I've seen pictures and paintings, but don't believe I could do a good set of plans from those.  Anyone know of good scale drawings and/or dimensions of those craft?  I assume they'd have an extreme barge style super-full hull.

I recently repainted my Revel harbor tug with the paint scheme of the New York Erie Canal System, as well as set the trim of the vessel so that it could float without being too top heavy. I'm open to helping solve an issues that anyone has with this specific model
