Hi , Cap'n Mac 82 !

 Well , the truth is , of course , you only use the stock deck for a pattern . Then , relegate it to the parts box !  T.B.

The idea intrigues.

I'd be sore tempted to not use the kit deck at all, and just fit bulkheads to suit the new hull scheme.

But, I already know what my problem would be with this as a concept.  After I had lofted off the lines fro mthe kit, the better to wrinkle out the best scale to use/develop, I'd have enough info to just scratch build, and not need the hull at all.  Sigh.

A work in progress without the pics? WOW!!! When you do something T.B. you do it right or you don't do it. This is going to be very interesting. Good luck T.B.

 Hi ;

 I just answered a post about the Lindberg Coast Guard Cutter . I had mentioned turning it into a fifties yacht . This IS a major project BUT it yields a lot of WOWS ! and Where'd you get that KIT !

 Fact is the kit is available anywhere . Anywhere a lot of kits are sold ( i/e Hobby Lobby , Hobby - Town etc .) This is , as I said a project , not for the faint at heart .The Lindberg kit is the basis . But the hull and such ( maybe the screws and rudder , are all that's used .)

 Although you know I still haven't learned about picture posting , ( are you reading this , Mark ? ) I will try to convey as much by word pictures as I can .

 First and foremost , Buy the kit . Open it , smell the fine smell of fresh styrene and get started . If there any sprues connected to the hull halves . Cut them away carefully . Now glue the two hull halves together and don't worry about flash on the hull .

 Let this set for at least two days , to give the glue time to work and finish gassing out . Now, Get a sheet of 320 Wet or Dry sandpaper . Cut it in quarters from side to side . Fold in thirds . Ready ? Under a constant stream of water , sand off all those pesky weld lines from everywhere .

   Everywhere ? Yup ! even the stern and bottom of the hull . Now keep sanding till you have a hull that the light shines through like a window shade . Boy that's thin ! Right . Now use the supplied deck to make a pattern and cut a new one out of .020 sheet plastic .

   Make sure it is exactly the right size ! Glue it in place , after letting the hull air dry for a day or two . Now for the next step .Cut off all the bulwarks and stuff sticking up above the main deck line . Fill that seam , sand and get ready for step two . Catchya Later .
