It sucks that it's $199.99
Its listed for $147.99 in the Spring 2018 Squadron catalog.
What does suck is that I have to pay sales tax on it because I'm in-state, but I don't have to pay shipping. I can go pick it up at the warehouse.
ridleusmc It sucks that it's not on my bench.

It sucks that I hand-carried an unbuilt non-Platinum version of this kit around a hobby show a few weeks back and no one wanted it for $40.00...
Well 1/144 is about the same as Lindy's 1/150(ish) "Blue Devil" which has a one-piece hull (if of a Gearing with twin rudders rather than the single of a Fletcher)
I wish you'd said fore and aft.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Hey Tanker-Builder,
The halfs are starboard and port.
Marcus
"G"
That's alright . It's still turned out strong enough to convert to R.C. and not affect the scale fidelity . Except for the rudder and Screw . Which you don't see while afloat . The thing holds a 12 volt motorcycle battery ( gel cell ) as both power and ballast , ( to the designed war load waterline by the way .)
I even was able to rig it for real river and lake conditions with drains , as well as the outflow from the engineering spaces without pumps ! Not a drop got in , as I ran it on the Sacramento River during a real rainstorm . T.B.
Hey Marcus ;
Is that port and starboard halves or fore and aft ? T.B.
GMorrison No. Its sitting there on Amazon, but I can't afford it. I also don't know what I would do with a 36 inch ship model that isn't a decorative item.

That is a lot of real estate. It would need to be covered to keep the dust out, so expect to shell out a few bucks for a display case or acrylic box.
Cap82, there is a review of it in July 09' Finescale I believe. I would to see a 1/350 Tirpitz platinum too.

This kit has been out for a while and there are quite a few reviews online.
Jenkins was a round bridge too.
The general sense from the reviews tend towards "good basis for a detailed model", "potential for a fine model", "lot of room for enhancement".
That actually sounds pretty positive.
Ok, I must have my forum-fu out of adjustment--is there a kit review out there for this one (platinum or not)?
I know it's a round bridge with eliptical funnels, but not much more than that.Have to know the fiddly details, to know how much the Shapeways bill will be. Sigh.
Marcus McBean It sucks that the hull is in two pieces.

The Tamiya 1/350 kit would be a good choice for Jenkins.
Length of time to build might be a consideration too.
The last 2 months of new product releases, Revell hasn't had it announced. I liked the way the Bismarck platinum edition looked and I'm sure w all p.e this Fletcher will look incredible. I want to make one as my 96 year old gmpa was on USS Jenkins dd447. Any of you guys gonna shell out a few bucks for this?
Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
It's currently available on Amazon.

Anybody know when Revell will release this as I have seen nothing on their website. -Jason
