I completely agree with Marcus on the Gold Medal PE. It is much more forgiving than Tom’s.

I find GGM is of better quality and a little thicker so its not a fragile as Tom's.  You need to compare what GGM and Tom's are offering on their frets.  A lot of times, Toms just offeres stair, ladders and railings and a few upgrades like the grating on the smoke stacks.  GGM will offer more items to upgrade plus I find the detail on their hatches, doors and porthole covers and frames to be more detail.

I'm getting ready to buy the Tamiya 1/350 Prince of Wales and a photoetch set to go with it.  Can someone tell me the difference between the Gold Medal Models and the Tom's Model Works set?  The GMM set is about twice the price of Tom's; is it twice as good?  Does one use thicker PE than the other?  Anything to help me decide will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Steve
