what knife or blade number for molded on railings? 1/426 scale

Cutting the railings off a 1/426 kit and my knife is not making any headway.

I am using an el cheapo three knife set which did ok for 1/72 work. Minimal cutting there, only off the sprue.

So I went to Michaels and see some X-acto and other brand blades with blade #s

Which one should I use?

I also like to use single edge razor blades.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

if the deck is off the Arizona i use small wire cutters to take most of the railing off then cleanup using #11 blade.

Wire cutters for initial cutting of lengths and straight razor for cleanup  did the trick. It was less money at the hardware store than an X-acto chisel!!!

I guess hobby tools have a Corvette Tax!

Hi ;

 I specifically use the good old number 11 slid backwards gently to remove the old REVELL  "Rail Walls !" It has always worked best for me .
