Wood deck for Revell America?
Posted by rcboater on Thursday, February 15, 2018 10:32 PM

Looking for feedback from anyone who has used the HiSmodel wood deck— it seems to be the only such deck on the market for this kit?  (Scaledecks doesn’t make one for this kit.)

How thick is it? How well does it fit? How does it look?

I haven't used it, clearly. But I looked at it on a couple of eBay postings and it's just all wrong.

The schooner got rebuilt a couple of times, and there only are on-deck photos from the later General Butler period.

But the decking almost certainly ran true fore and aft. And in yacht style was narrow, 6" or less. Some of the Gloucester schooners and other smaller yachts have decking that converges in the stern, but America was built more like a ship.

I wouldn't get that deck. You could get Northeastern Scale Decking scribed decking.

1/16" is 4" in 1/64 scale.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
