fuzzy rigging
Posted by retdfeuerwehr on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 12:56 AM

Despite my best efforts, part of my ship's running rigging fuzzed up along its length and now looks totally unacceptable. Is there a way to eliminate that fuzz with a minimum of collateral damage?  TIA

I have painted standing rigging with a thin off-black paint.  I  did this, however, while doing the rigging, immediately after doing a section- say shrouds and ratlines of each mast.

I know folks who wax thread before rigging to prevent this, but too late now, of course.  I wonder if taking a cue-tip and running a thin clearcoat along the lines would work, too. I would do a test off the model first, however.  Tie a piece of the thread you used between two points on bench, and try it.

Good day,

understood this is a quiet big problem, but unfortunatelly have no advises... rerigg all running rigging..?

but , I don't think it is good idea for the model from  plastic kit... in case of" real "   wooden model - may be it is not" creasy" idea, but find good threads without " furr", make your own  ropes all ness-ry sizes, ...and make correct running rigging...

I know there is German Guttermann sweing threads , serie " tera" ...they are of different sizes in diameter...and  very nice for rigging purpose...:)))
