 You might be surprised . A trunk wuth the check in freight  label for " on board baggage " on the Santa Fe Super Chief from 1952 just sold on a train site for 200 bucks . Just because of the label  !!!  T.B.

 

Yeah I kinda thought about that later. Someone brought up the trunk collector stuff after I posted the pic on Flickr. It was no doubt too late because I know someone snagged it from the curb within minutes of me leaving no doubt. Plus it's not like something you could sell and ship on ebay.

I did not keep it. I only read of the story after I got home. It turns out I should probably have kept the trunks as I understand they are quite collectable but I have enoughh stuff laying around as it is.

 I had many hopes for the model companies to snatch this one up . Like the Normandie , they chose to omit this beautiful ship from any kit Availability . 

 My uncle has pictures of that terrible time , with pictures of the passengers we picked up during the rescue .There were many fishing boats , tugs , and others that helped the Coast Guard that day .

 My Aunt Won't let me even borrow them ! I believe that was when I was a cabin boy on Uncle Joseph's Tuna Clipper ( just like the Lifelike/Lindberg kit . ) Maybe between ten and thirteen . I would know better if I could remember the year !

 I checked and I was just about to turn  thirteen !
