If you check a review of the kit which includes the sprue layout you will note that the A-frame mast is included.   The 109 didn't have the mast mounted at the time of her loss.

The early 103-class PT boats (including the 109 boat) did not have radar mounted.   The radar mast is beefier than the basic A-frame.   Should you desire to model a later boat with radar there are 3D printed aftermarket options. See Shapeways.com

Hello everyone. Haven't posted here on Finescale for ever - to much work.

Anyways, got a question regarding Revell's new tool 109: all the pictures of the new kit that I have seen show the boat without a radar tower. Any idea whats up with this?

The old PT-109 model from Revell had the radar tower; Italeri's 1/35 scale has the radar tower.

Did Revell botch their research or what here?

Gordy,

Here is a thread on the new Revell 1/72 PT boat. I would ask Tim, who actually wrote the review on it. Highly knowledgable and nice guy, so shoot him a PM.  Hope this helps answer your question.
