Looking for Help-USS Laffey DD-724 1/350 Scale

Whose resin kit?   The Iron Shipwright?

Full disclosure;  I have made a couple masters for ISW (not the Laffey) and have worked at their booth at some IPMS events.   

One of the raps against ISW is their poor instructions.   They are B&W photocopies if line drawings. Secondary references are almost a given.  You may also need to scratchbuild some items to make the details work.  Fortunately the Laffey exists at Patriots Point in Charleston so photos are available..  I have a bunch from my visit there last year.

Plan your mounting method before painting,  especially if you are planning on imbedding a nut or other hardware for mounting to the baseboard.

The resin which ISW uses pretty generic.   I don't know the current brand, but it can be painted with most brands.   Wash well in dish soap, rinse and allow to air dry.  Prime it with your favorite hardware store rattlecan,  Krylon,  Polycoat,  Painter's Edge.   I often use one of these in primer red as the hull bottom color.   Once dry mask and paint with your favorite model brand of either enamel or acrylic.    Remove the masking and proceed with PE installation.

I paint the PE on the fret before installation.  Touch up any nicks or cracks later.  Measure PE runs using a pair of draftsman's dividers.   Work in manageable 2 to 3 inch lengths.  Make your runs to logical end points:  bulkheads gun tubs, ladder breaks, etc.  Bend to fit.   Install using some small dots of white glue,  I use Alleen's Tacky Glue.   It grabs quick but allows repositioning  Clean up with a damp Qtip.    Go back and secure the base rail (gutter rail) with a fine bead of CA.

Work inside to out and top to bottom to minimize the chances of messing up previously installed items

ISW's satisfaction guarantee is very good.   If you find that a part is not useable when you open the kit.   Contact tehem and they will reolace it.    If during assembly you break a part,  contact them and they will replace it.    I have heard that they have even replaced parts on an assembled kit which was knocked off a shelf by an inquisitive cat..   Be up-front.

The instructions in the kit was printed on black and white mainly and the little parts weren't labeled either. It also came with etched sheets which are incredibly fragile and I haven't worked with them in a very long time. Also i'm un aware of what type of resinthey used so it's hard for me to determine the apporpiate paints that can be used for this model.

Need assitance in building a U.S.S Laffey DD-724 1/350 Scale model kit, what I purchased was a fully custom resin kit model (fresh from the mould) and I've gotten as far as putting together some of the bigger pieces. Let me know what if you have any sources/services that can help me build this. It's for a big-time client.

Assistance is a broad subject.

What is your hang-up?  What are you trying to do?  Are you looking for further instruction/help or alternate sources for aftermarket details?   Painting help?

i shortened a gearing class model into the Laffey for a member on the modelwarships site as he felt not confident enough to do it himself. i did the hull plus the main & 01 decks & he did the rest.
