20mm ready amo lockers

Looking for the actual measurements of the 20mm ready amo lockers used on the Fletcher class destroyers in WWII.These were located on the deck close by the guns.I could also use the measurements of the depth charge impulse lockers located on the main deck behind the K guns.Building the '44-'45 version of the USS Ingersoll,DD652 in 1/144 scale(square bridge)

According to the Floating Drydock's Fletcher plan book (if you don't have it for your project, get it), the outside dimensions of the pyro locker (top side) is 4'4" long x 28.75 wide x 27.5 tall.   It is supported off the deck by legs a minimum of 8".

A dimesnsioned drawing of the ready service locker is not in the Fletcher book, but one is in the 1945 Missouri book.  62" long x 24" wide X 24.5" tall.  It is supported by 4" channel legs across the width of the box.

Your better bet may be some 3D printed ones, like these from Shapeways.

 20 for a bit over a buck a piece.

While scratchbuilding these items may be satisfying, using parts like these may be a more efficient use of your time. Especially if you need more than a dozen.   Note that these also have the magazine tensioner fitting usually seen on the lockers.  Shapeways also has the additional guns you will need to flesh-out the armament suite on a late-war Fletcher.

Thanks for the info.I did check out Shapeways. As there are usually only one per gun and in this version the ship only carries 7 single 20mm I may try and make my own.(Shapeways is a block of 20 and at a buck apeace I'd hate to waste the other 13)I did however buy the rectangler life rafts as they look good in the picture.

Model Monkey’s store at Shapeways offers 8 lockers for 10 bucks.  Fewer left-overs

Ed,

Thanks for the info. They do make some good looking parts and I'll take your advise and save some time by using them.I do get enjoyment by scratch building most of the items I need but as these old eyes get tired and my fingers seem to get fatter,it does take more of my time.(The Golden Years !!)

 Thanks again.
