I think this is true ;
Ther are many of you out there who choose to model in both 1/350 and 1/700 the many Carriers of the I.J.N. in W.W. 2 . Interesting choice . Now here's the rub .
Many ship modelers thought the underdeck supports ( if Given at all ) for American Carriers were weird in their structrually surfaced solid moldings . Well , The early I.J.N. carriers were worse .
I have one in 1/350 and one in 1/700 . Same ship as a matter of fact ! Budget doesn't allow detail Up sets at the price they sell for - Even on the " Bay " And like Women , alternate support systems can be a Godsend !
My alternative looks great and is not fiddly to work with . But it does further re-in-force the idea of open bridge girder type construction on upright supports .
Is it P.E. ? Sometimes Yes . Most times No . There are two companies you can get your " Bashing" Components from . Tichy Train Group In " N " Scale and " H.O." Send for a catalogue and you'd be surprised what bridges can be parted for carrier deck supports .
Plus ,Tichy includes the catalogue sheets and cross reference lists for the parts you order . Their address is WWW.TICHYTRAINGROUP.COM ! Now the other is known to modelers here , and in Kalmbach's rail related magazines too .
They are www.WalthersCornerstone.com Walthers makes a whole lot of stuff ! What Kind of stuff . Well what do you want ?
They make in " H.O. " and " N " many of the parts I use on ships and other models . They have a great collectuon of " Stuff " Including Open Truss Bridges in both scales that certainly can be used on ships . Armor too . The "H.O." scale and " N" scale Tools look great in place of molded on tools on Armor Softskins and Tanks .
Most of you know that " N " Scale is 1/160 and " H.O." is 1/87 . This really doesn't matter if you use creative craftmanship . Try it you'll like it ! T.B. . P.S. The girders I speak of look great on REVELL'S " Burton Island " on the Helo Platform .
Those are " Z " scale . I was given the bridge from a heavily damaged Teensy rail layout in that scale . Please , Don't ask me what size that is . All I know , is they are so delicate they look great there !
