I have this memory of a rather large Big E. Around 1/96, probably from Loren Perry's magazine. Builder used a boat trailer to take it to the RC "pond." Power was from a batch of power-window motors and a big bank of 12VDC auto batteries.
1/16 scale? That's about 60'/18m long and 12'/3.5m wide. Dunno if that would be better in sheet aluminum or just galvanized steel. Either way, you'd need a special permit every time you wanted to take it on the road. Also, E2C are going to be complicated in 1/16.
Airwing availibility will limit large scale planning. Early on, you need E2 and C2 along with Vigies and Whales, some of which are complicated even in 1/48.
Probably the "ideal" large scale E would be 1/72, airwing is available for all eras. Even if that's a 12'-14'/3-4m long build. Would be an interesting Club build, which would help offset the need to make so many nearly identical a/c. Or a couple hundred Naval figures. Or all the deck vehicles.

CapnMac82 I'm going to guess that's 1/144, as that would be about a 2m (6.5') long model. Mostly because 1/72 woudl be about 4m/13' long. But, anything is possible (even as my mind boggles at buying that many 1/72 Hornets )

I concur on the scale. I remember the FSM story on the 1/72 Nimitz and it was MUCH bigger than this.
Now, he needs to upgrade. I know there are 1/16 scale F-14’s on the market. How’s about a 1/16 scale Enterprise?

Just look at this build is an amazmement of the size of the project. Unfortunately, no scale was provided, so we have to guess the scale. Regardless, I could never fit a project like this into my cramped hobby room.
