His Majesty's Fighter Director Tender (FDT)

I was scrolling through NAVSOURCE looking for a potential mod for one of my AFV Club LST kits when I came across the Royal Navy's Fighter Director Tender modification.

 HM FDT

 HM FDT217

Googling found the combinedops.com website with info on these ships.  They were crewed by by RN and RAF/RCAF personel.

These were used as part of the air defense of Operation Neptune, the Normandy Invasion.

I'm looking for information (drawings) & a possible PE source for the Type 15 (bow) GCI radar and Type 11 (midships) radar.   It is interesting to note that the Type 11 operated on German frequencies and the feeling was that they might jam the Type 15 radar frequencies but would not jam their own.

HM FDT13 Paid Off

As an aside, the AFV Club is quite nice.  It is a three-piece whole hull.  The hull sides have a subtle oil-canning effect.   Vehicles are a separate purchase option.   Decals are provided for 8 USN ships in Measures 21, 22, 31, and a as-delivered Measure 14 (?) light gray overall option.   I'm tossing over in my mind scratch-building a Brodie-rig aircraft recovery system for one of my new collection.[/quote]

Rigging all those antennas will keep you busy.  That looks as complicated as many sailing ships!
