USS Insurgent- where to find drawings?

Amazon.com has this book, first publised in 2012. I do not know if USS INSURGENT plans are available, but discription of this French ship might give a clue of what this vessel might have appeared under American colors.

   Like you I had no luck doing online searches.   I did glance thru Boudriot's History of the French Frigate 1650-1850.  L'Insurgente (Semillante class), is mentioned but no plan for it is shown and no reference for where any  "manuscripts or draughts" might be found.  That is disheartening. 

     The ship is listed in the 12 pdr frigate chapter. (I understood she was designed as a 24 pdr Frigate.)

     The book goes into good detail on other 12 pdr Frigates and there are 5th rate Frigate plans in the book.  But no plans for these ships designed by  Pierre-Joseph Pénétreau.

    For those folks interested, here is a link for the book.  If no plans emerge from other members., perhaps a few good ideas from this book could supplement further readings to get the best approximation of the ship.

Thank you both. my interest arises as I am reading "Six Frigates", by Ian Toll.

A very well written history of the concept, funding and building of the US Navy following the debacle of sea warfare during the Revolution, the rise of the American mercantile trade and the need to fend off the French in the "Quasi-War" of 1798-1802.

Constellation, a 38 gun 24 pounder frigate, was the first ship in a major engagement. She fought the French frigate L'Insurgente off of Nevis Island and captured  her.

L'Insurgente was thought to be one of the fastest ships of the time, and well armed with 40 12 pounders. But she lost her main topmast during pursuit by the Constellation, was forced to turn and fight, and was captured by Captain Truxton in 1799.

I have a kit bash in mind, but do need some basic drawings.

I'm currently restoring a Revell 1/96 Constitution for a local library, so the subject is one I'm reading quite a bit about.

Anthony, I can't find that title for the life of me. Any chance you have an ISBN #?

Model kit on hand:Iphigénie Class.

There used to be two big sources of model ship plans; the Dromedary, now a division of Loyalhanna dockyards, and still in business.  The other used to be Taubman Plans, which I think is now defunct.  You might try searching for those places- I know the Dromedary site is still active.  Anyone know what happened to Taubman?
