Tanker - Build Project
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 1:38 PM

Hello everyone;

         Well, I started the tanker back up in earnest.Then discovered I had made some really bad Boo-Boos. Had to remove the bridge house and revamp the forward port side of the Boat deck!! With that repaired I started the piping and ran out of parts.

       Started the Ladders( Inclined stairs) and ran out of material in the right scale! So everything went back on almost hold.Then I remembered, Hey! I haven't done the Fairleads or Bollards ( for those not familiar, Fairleads are where the ropes go over the deck edge through Fairleads to Bollards or Cleats. Cleats on smaller boats. Bollards on Ships)( you could say a fairlead is a flattened donut through which the ropes pass going to the Bollards, and are rounded on all sides .

     That way the lines don't fray and get cut by sharp edges! That and the lifeboat Canisters. Yes, Fellows she has been remodeled ( at least that is what she represents.) Inland ships really don't need the heavy Hardware and full size Lifeboats. Canisters with Self inflating Rafts are allowed!

    The other stuff will be here by the fifteenth and I will get photos, Upload to Flickr and share, Okay? I could order metal A.M. Fairleads but I have handmade them for so many years I just automatically go into Fairlead construction mode. You'll see.

Nino;

      Thank you for that. I will look for that. I haven't Uploaded the new pics to Flickr yet.

 With the Covid thing, The museum I'm President of is running me ragged trying to keep a lid on. Folks want to open and all but one on the board want to stay closed till all clear ( It has to do with our Footprint!)

     OOPS!

 I forgot to answer your question, Nino. The Tanker in the few photos I did send is 100% scratch -Built at a scale of 1/87 or to model RailRoaders that H.O. Scale. I like building in this scale because of the plethora of non brass or resin aftermarket parts for detailing. Which is, believe it or not cheaper!
