Very nice!

tks Don. I used you color combo on the props. I was looking to see what to use and I saw bronze somewhere. Guessing that's a right color. I came across an old thread in which you mentioned brown and copper, 1:2 I believe. Don't know if I got any of them in the pics, but looked good to me. Do I have the proportions right?

Yep, although lately what I have been doing is thinning the brown and dry brushing it on.  I can get more control that way.  I have a neat picture of a large bronze prop that I use to control the amount of brown until it looks like that prop.  I'll look through my pictures (it is in a park in Duluth) and post it.

Mrchntmarine, i know about that picture as navsource has it too. the quads on the stern do not look like the quads on the forward superstructure.

She looks swell. Next time you go to Michaels, pick up one of those pre cut and edge routered wood plaques they sell. Stain it, get some lamp parts for pedestals and display her proudly.

Ditto

Kit bases are almost never used by "our" crowd.  We want people the see the whole kit, warts and all Smile

your 5"25cal guns look like 5"38cal guns because of the length of the gun barrels. i thought they were too long on my 1/350 San Fransico but your 1/700 scale moel reinforces that idea.

is that 2x quad 40mm aa guns in the tubs at the stern?

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Okay, all done for now.  Another learing process and thanks to all that helped.  Not perfect by any stretch but i think not too bad either.  Had some fits and picked up some good tips for the pe parts installation.  Hope i dont forget it all by the next one!  Wm.

Keep on modeling!

William
