Monogram Coastal Junk

I had picked up this kit several years ago at a swap meet.  It was cheap and kind of unusual.  Was cleaning my shelves recently and had to decide what to do with it- sell it or build it.  It looked like a quick and simple build so I put it on the bench.

Sorry for the blur.  I was lazy and figured I'd go handheld with flash.  Guess my hands are not steady enough these days even for flash!

My wife has a mantra- no tripod no shot.  Wise woman.

Yeah, that kit was one of Monogram's Vietnam era series kits along with the Swift Boat and the 'Rag' Boat. The Rag Boat was actually a French STCAN/FOM. They were actually fairly decent kits, I wish they were still available and I also wish the line was continued with same scale PBR's, Tango's, monitors, etc.

"Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, okay?"

Fell down some stairs a week and a half ago- banged up right arm and shoulder pretty bad, but no broken bones.  I am not a very good lefty when it comes to modeling.  Got back to work yesterday.  Got mast mounts and masts up.  Have to put some fittings on top of masts, probably make them from wire.

Really grateful you sustained no serious damage, Don! As my mom used to say..."No running on the stairs!" Big Smile

Look forward to seeing progress on the junk.

Greg

Well, I'm glad you had no scissors while on the stairs, or a Daisy Red Ryder.  Smile

Take it easy there Don!  I remeber that kit - my buddy built it when we were kids.

Thanks,

John
