Just a Fast Note to those seeking Civilian ships!

Note to Self! Keep it Short.Nah!

Hi Guys and Ladies. I have been Paperized lately. I have seven under construction as this is written on a glue drying break. Seven, You say?

Yup.There are many things on a paper model that can be built while the Hull,Decks etc dry. So I do this and that. Now to the Title of this thread. Civilian ships. As we all know if they aren't grossly molded or old collectables they are Expensive Old Models!

The Choices are limited too. Like the warships, we've been one ship typed to death. I mean, How many models of Titanic can we really want?

Kinda like those poor guys looking for WW-1 stuff. It hasn't been around that long. Now back to the Civilian Ships. There are a Lot of them out there! Problem! They are out there all right! In Paper! I guess paying someone to do the initial drawings and then the finalized ones before printing is cheaper than Plastic, More than likely

Now there are a great many Tugs and Service craft, then the Liners, Frieghters, and so on . The normal scale seems to run to 1/400. Many are 1/250 . Now there some 1/200 monsters out there as well! Some are smaller, but not many. The instructions run from a Booklet, printed well and then in many cases a line drawing and some Shaded Isometric drawings.

Like Plastic the parts are numbered. You MUST remember this though. Paper Models require a habit of cleanliness and order on the workbench. Certain types of clamps and places to sit heavy objects on laminated parts so they dry flat! They also require very sharp blades-Lots of them. Civilian ships have a lot of hardware that needs to be built. From the tiniest winch to the Anchors and everything in between.

So if you want civilian ships, they are there and lots of fun to build. The companies and their building techniques are as varied as plastic too. There are also many downloadable ones out there as well. So find your niche and get to building!

Oh, One last comment. There's no drilling or sink marks to worry about either! And you also can find compatable P.E.For them as well.
