What are they like?

While going through listings of 1/350th ship models I might be interested in I noticed a new company called seed models and the Combrig kits.  Since it appears we have only one hobby shop left in town and the likelyhood of them showing up there is remote at best, can anyone tell me whawt these kits are like.  In this day and age, and being out of work since last year, I don't want to waste money on a kit that isn't worth the money.

 

Scalemates is a good source of reviews and info on kits-check there.

I have not built them, myself, but Combrig's catalog does include subjects not covered by other makers.

I won't discourage you from asking here in FineScale, but as long as we're recommending other websites, I would have a look at the reviews at the specialty website/forum  ModelWarships.com:  http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/current-reviews.html  You can see a good number of Combrig kits finished there, too.

SEED Models comes up in searches as a line of Gundam. I have no experience there.

Combrig is a Russian company that makes resin ship models in a number of scales. I've built a couple and the quality is excellent.

But, at 1/350 they are out of my league in price.

I have also built Combrig ships in 1/700.  They are excellent kits and are quite buildable.  Unfortunately, the ships at that scale are waterline models only. I prefer full hull.

Go to SEEDHOBBY.COM.  The site is part of 5-Star Models out of China.    They are resin & brass.   They list a couple of 350 scale items, patrol boat/gun boat sized subjects.   By far their major list of sellers is in 700 scale.    Some unique subjects.   For many items the PE is structural, not just rails or applique.  5 Star is heavy into photoetch aftermarket items so their products mesh
