Hi Everyone,
This summer I've been doing a lot of reading/research about the Battle of Leyte Gulf, specifically the battle involving Taffy 3 where a small group of destroyers, destroyer escorts, and escort carriers took on a much larger Japanese task force. My question is does anyone make an injection molded kit of the USS Samuel B. Roberts or another destroyer escort of the same Butler class? Trumpeter makes the USS England but that is of the Buckley class. Thanks!

Pit Road, 1/700. I like their kits in that scale.
Lindberg made a Rudderow Class in box scale, which is quite similar to the Butlers.
Roberts is also available in resin, which I would choose over the Lindberg kit.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
About two years ago, a group of modelers recreated Taffy 3 in 1/96th scale r/c models. Here's the link: Taffy 3 Model Ship Group. The local TV News crew shot some video of the flet underway.
The Trumpeter kit of the USS England is of a Buckley class. The Samuel Roberts was. Butler class. The former had a raised bridge-house and open 3-inch gun mounts while the latter had a lower bridge and enclosed 5"/38s. Plus other differences. A scratch-rebuild of the entire upper works would be required. I had at one time inquired of Model Monkey the possibility of him doing such a 3D print conversion - No Joy.
