Confederate submarine found?

Hmmmmm ... from what little I know about Hunley's earlier effort, it didn't have a framework like that shown in the photos, it was just iron plates bolted together. Still ... it's tantalizing ...

    Hmmm, could be ya Know. Stranger things have happened. Remember though one of the most amazing things about the Hunley! Her rivets were flush to the surface! If they can find any build references to this type of construction on this vessel and those remains we may find that she's indeed found! Otherwise it just may be an old Nav Bouy.

     Hey, in your referrence to Paper or Thin sheet plastic they could Both be scratch built.

Given the relatively simple lines of most of the craft involved...since most were cobbled together from iron boilerplate...they'd be virtually ideal candidates for scratchbuilding, either in styrene or paper card.

As long as decent drawings or even plan/profiles are available, most would be pretty quick and not-too-complicated projects.

Well, the Hunley was one I actually finished(!), so I'm casting my beady crab eyes on a fresh subject. 

MikroMir out of the Ukraine made a 1:35 scale CSS Hunley.   It has been out for several years and is currently listed as OOP.   It is injected plastic.  Look around and you may locate one on the secondary market.

I would love to see some mainstream injected plastic kits of Civil War subs and semi-submersibles.  I built the resin Verlinden 1/32 CSS Hunley and it whetted my appetite.  I bought a 1/72 CSS David but want one in 1/32.
