Hi;
This may interest you Folks. I am going to really mess this one up. I am going to lightly sand the hull to remove most of the molded on rivets and lessen the difference between plating. What I am going to do is this .The Deck! The Confounded, Rootin Tootin, Wood Deck That's molded very Finely in the plastic! I am going to break all the rules! I am going to try the decals or stickers that make up panels for Wooden Floors in the smaller sized DollHouses! Yup, I figure that'll give it plank detail without all the stops created by the Lines between the planks!
Then instead if expensive metal aftermarket guns I am hoping to taper and use aluminum rod and brass rod of the right sizes or thick wall tubing if I can find it small enough! Nope! You ain't gonna talk me out of it either! Why? Well, let's just say a hit on the old noggin brought this to the fore. I was working out in the Garage shop when a box stack I had jostled,droppd and smaller box on my head.Guess what It was full of? Handmade parrot rifles from a Civil War Moniter I was building some years back when the hull and upperworks)A piece of supposedly solid Basswood.
It weren't! It had a piffy spot in a crucial area which stopped any chance of carving to completion without a lot of wood putty used in the area where the softish wood ( Piffy area) was removed. Can you say forty-five percent of the hull on one side! BUT I had already experimented with these brass parts because the White Metal ones were either to corroded or to soft!
Well, I had done the job and had fun doing it, So Olympia, Here they come! The masts and Spars were steel too. Brass tubing and rod here as well! The steel rigging will be extra fine Beading wire! So There!
