       When it comes to aftermarket I used to keep it to one brand for whatever ship it was. I now use a lot of Eduard when I can get what I want and Tom's for the rest. I have only done deck overlays on a metal ship once and that was the "Linoleum" decking on the 1/350 Yamato! I used Contact Paper! In the right shade cut into reasonably easy to handle pieces.The pattern in scale would be to small to handle on an individual tile basis.

 Love this PE for yamato. Just will have to work more overtime to get them :) especialy that Eduard has pdf showing where patrs go to.

I can't speak to this specific model, but I THINK Gold Medal Models makes a PE fret for modern US warships, and that's about the best PE (and instructions!) you can find. The founder of GMM had retired, but all of his patterns were bought by Tom's Model Works, so start there.

And in 1/350, since it's a commission build, I'd look for the turned brass barrels and the like - they can really up the wow factor.
