Aoshima 1/100 Pirate Ship
Posted by LuvShips on Sunday, February 12, 2023 6:22 PM

I was wondering if anyone has the instructions in English?  They should be the same as the Ertl Pirate Ship.  The rigging is next to impossible using the provided instruction.

Checked on Scalemates and the closest I could find was the Black Falcon in 1/100.  Not sure if it's a reversion of this model?  You might check these instructions in case it's a match.  Good luck!

Hello, thanks for the reply.  I am having issues posting the pics to this site. I could email them to you if you want to provide your email. Sorry about this.  Mike

I was wondering if anyone has the instructions in English?  They should be the same as the Ertl Pirate Ship.  The rigging is next to impossible using the provided instruction.

You want to go here:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/cc-lee-886-spanish-galleon--1102491

Scroll down to the button to download the cartoon pages. They aren't great but should be satisfactory. There is a nice sideview that pretty much shows the basics.

I noticed right away in your original post that the ship is a four masted one. The high stern castle is a typical Spanish galleon. So I dug around and found the kit as IMAI, then ERTL, then CC LEE, then Aoshima. Only the CC LEE kit had a link to instructions.

They are in Japanese, probably all the way back to IMAI. ERTL and Aoshima seem to have done reboxes as pirate ships.

So if you want to get into some detail, start with the IMAI (?) instructions. They had a reputation for making nice models. I would build her as a spaniard. Pirate ships are pretty much fantasy. Pirates spent as much time as possible on land because the Royal Navy was always around in the Caribbean and could easily defeat a ship full of hoodlums. They might venture off shore in a longboat to surprise a lone, unarmed merchant ship but justice was swift and harsh. It took ten men to fight a cannon on a carriage and pirates had no interest in the discipline that would take.

I think that will be a nice build.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Hey

Thank you for the information. I went to the link and the rigging instructions are much better. Looking forward to finishing the ship.  I enjoyed the background on pirates also!!
